I worked for a large natural gas utility company in Ma. I have been in the industry for 30+ years working for this company for 6 years. I was trainer in the service department teaching service technicians the proper way to do their job. I was training a group of supervisors and a female student went to HR saying I was being inappropriate. When an investigation was performed they only interviewed 5 of the 14 employees 3 of them defended me one was the accuser and the other was my training partner who has issues with me. So he aired all of his issues he had with me to hr. He has been in the industry for 40 years. Because of this he wants to just coast and do as little as possible till his retirement comes. Because of his work ethic we had clashes. He would constantly talk and go off topic literally for hours while I taught. I had to interrupt to teach and this upset him So when the hr investigation was done and I finally got to defend myself it turned into me having to defend against 2 people instead of one. The hr women had her mind already made up I had no weight in the decision. The finding was a death penalty letter saying if I did anything wrong they could fire me. I didn’t sign letter and both hr women and my manager said that the alleged things said were not that out of line of speech in our industry. Everything that they said I said was alleged and I denied that I said it. I was found innocent. The hr woman eluded that the only real reason I was being reprimanded was because a woman filed a complaint and they had to give me some type of punishment if it was 5 years ago this would have been brushed off with no repercussions. Now the company has become extremely over the top politically correct. Since my incident that same woman went to hr filing complaint against 5 other people for the same thing and none of them got punished. The woman has also now been fired by the company for being incompetent. Fast forward a couple of months I was trying to get ready for a school and was trying to get things right. My new supervisor, who has absolutely no natural gas experience kept asking me to do things that were not applicable to my school. So I snapped yelled and asked to have meeting with my manager. We met with her and the new supervisor and my new senior supervisor. I was angry and I admit I was louder than I should be but I laid all my complaints on the table. I thought it was over after the meeting. But the next day manager came to me and said she agreed with me and my points but the way I handled it was wrong. I agreed and apologized. She then strongly suggested I see a company therapist to speak about my anger and I would have to meet with her weekly to discuss my feelings. I complied saw therapist and did the homework my manager gave me and discussed my feelings. While this was going on my old supervisor and manager found how I was doing everything in my department and why didn’t I tell them that my training partner was doing nothing. My senior supervisor and new supervisor sat in on classes and was instructed to let him teach and they found out how little he knew and how bad he taught. They were furious. Now I’ll wrap it up sorry so long. In October there was an accident on Ma pike. My partner group texted us in the text he started giving wrong direction but corrected himself. As I was leaving the news was giving the wrong direction of accident. I texted my wife that “Dumbass is giving wrong direction” but it ended up being texted to the group text. My partner thought I was calling him a dumbass and went to management and hr. I was removed from class again and was made to wait 3 weeks for the decision. HR showed up I met with her and my manager and fired and escorted from the building. I got no chance to defend myself. I got fired thanksgiving week. I now wonder if I should get a lawyer for wrongful termination? Please advise if you can. Sorry again so long.
