Hey guys,

I bought a used Anycubic Vyper yesterday for €80. Seller said “private sale, no refunds,” so yeah… I’m stuck with it.

Yesterday everything worked perfectly. I printed a Benchy and it came out great. But today, when I started another print, the printer suddenly froze. Fans stopped, screen didn’t respond, nothing.

I tried a few things:

swapped the hotend (looked a bit crusty, thought maybe cables were bad)

reconnected all visible cables

restarted it multiple times

After that, it got worse. Now when I turn it on:

sometimes the screen turns on but doesn’t respond

sometimes it freezes on the Anycubic logo (no startup sound)

fans spin for a second and then stop

Important detail:

When I turn the printer OFF, I hear a short crackling/electrical noise from the power switch or power input. It does NOT happen when turning it on, only when turning it off. I opened it a bit and I’m pretty sure it’s coming from that area. I also tried a different power cable, same issue.

The previous owner said it had no problems.

I’m 16 and don’t have money for big repairs, so I’m hoping it’s something simple. Also, I don't want my dad finding out that it is broken.

Any ideas what this could be? PSU? Switch? Mainboard? And is it safe to keep testing it?

Thanks 🙏
