Been following this space closely and genuinely curious what people in publishing think about where things are heading.
A year ago the conversation was mostly about AI writing assistants helping authors polish existing work. Now there are tools that handle the entire pipeline from synopsis to formatted manuscript to cover art to metadata generation. Some are even exporting KDP ready files automatically.
From a publishing perspective this raises interesting questions. Is the bottleneck shifting from writing to editing and quality control? Are publishers seeing more AI assisted manuscripts coming through? And for self publishers specifically is the barrier to entry now essentially zero?
Not looking to debate the ethics of AI writing, more interested in the practical publishing perspective on how this is changing workflows and what the landscape looks like from people actually working in or around publishing.
