So the dad bought them hermit crabs at the beach after the mom said no. They’re still in the original shore cage. There’s two of them and a quick google search tells me that that is not good for them. Unfortunately there isn’t much I can do on that front. I am working on them getting even a slightly bigger tank but the progress on that is slow. I just cleaned their cage and I am usually the one giving them food and water. Unfortunately I know nothing about crabs and there is so much info out there that I’m not sure how to help. They are active and I give them fruit and veggies sometimes, and sometimes they come out of their cage and wander on the table, so idk they seem relatively happy considering the circumstances.
Really I just am looking for advice on how to make their little enclosure as good as can be until I can eventually either convince them to get a bigger tank or I lose my patience and take them home with me lol. They currently have the little colorful pebbles at the bottom I know they need sand or something. That I’m sure I can convince them to buy and then I’ll do it with the kids. I just don’t really know what to put in there or what kind of things to put in there for enrichment without crowding too much. They have a little pool and the sponge thing in there too and their food goes in a little shell.
