Not asking for any kind of help with programs, just tryna stay safe because ive been seeing LOTS of mr.beast scams in my dms and threads in here. Read a lot of these things come from mods or "stolen" games.

im broke and dig for treasure every now and then so id appreciate tips on detect malware that isnt as easy to catch and slips through the cracks. i already have malwarebytes and windows defender on but im still paranoid. am i okay??

i see people all the time saying youre fine with windows defender only but im downloading things from treasure boxes. i always run scans a couple times with both but i distinctly remember fuckin up my laptop tryna play class of 09 despite triple scanning. had command promps launching and i just rebooted windows with a usb.

People say common sense is the best antipiracy and i use trusted websites from the big megathread, but like everyone knows: links can become unsafe. its almost impossible to avoid risk using direct download links.

im not very tech savvy (in terms of cybersec and opsec) so i definetly feel like a fish out of water trying to discern whats a legit process or not (besides publishers). dont feel comfy on windows 10 bc of microslop so im debating packin up my bags and just touching grass.

Please be kind in replies and link to other threads if ive missed anything important. i tried searching as best as i could but without knowing what to look for, i just stumble across beginner threads that dont help much. am i overthinking this?
