Eloise’s Hidden Romanticism: Why her connection with Theo is the key to her future
I’ve been following the discussions about Eloise being a "pure activist" who doesn’t need a romantic storyline to grow as a character. Honestly, as a viewer, I wouldn’t mind if her arc remained strictly about her intellectual pursuits. However, there is a specific moment in Season 2 that changed my perspective.
When Eloise meets Theo, she doesn’t just find a fellow activist; she finds a spiritual and intellectual peer. Even though they start their journey as allies in a radical cause, she eventually starts wondering if Theo has feelings for her. To me, this proves that she felt a spark first. It shows that Eloise experienced the first stirrings of love for someone who truly connected with her mind.
I believe Eloise has a "hidden romanticism" that she refuses to admit even to herself. This could be a fascinating element for Season 5 and Season 6. It would be incredible to see how this repressed romantic side coexists with her fierce need to defend women’s rights.
The real question for her future is: Can a marriage (or a long-term partnership) actually balance these two worlds? Can she find a love that doesn’t demand she sacrifice her independence, but rather fuels her activism? I think her experience with Theo was the blueprint for that balance.
What do you think? Is Eloise secretly a romantic, or was Theo just a "one-time" exception because of their shared values?
