Bad experience at Don Quijote Akihabara

Hi, this is my first post ever, but I just wanted to share a recent experience to Don Quijote Akihabara.

This was my first trip to Japan, and I truly loved it. The culture, history, experiences, all of it was wonderful. On our last day, me and my husband went to Don Quijote in Akihabara to buy some things for ourselves and family. The first issue was that the employees seemed to be generally rude. Even when we asked for help, they either ignored us or were short and irritated that we even dared ask them anything.

When we went to make our payment, we counted out 8 100 yen coins and 8 10 yen coins for the bill (878 yen part). We specifically counted it out in front of the cashier and the guy who was packing up our items. Both of us remember the bronze coloured 10 yen coins in the tray. The cashier put all of our coins together into the machine, but for whatever reason, the machine only read the 100 yen coins. He told us we still have 78 yen remaining to give. We told him that he had literally seen us count it out in front of him. After that, he was either mocking us or was actually incompetent. He pretended to look around for the coins on the counter and everywhere except inside the machine. We asked them to open up the machine and check the cameras. We also used google translate in case there was some miscommunication. They called another employee, and she just blatantly told us we didn't give the coins, even though she wasn't even there. They told us they had checked the cameras, but clearly they hadn't, since that would've clearly shown us giving them the correct change. They refused to open the machine. In the end, we had to give them another 100 yen coin.

While I know the amount was small, and maybe not worth arguing over, the principle really bothered me. It left a sour taste in an otherwise amazing trip. We had experiences with disinterested employees in other stores in Akihabara, but this by far was the worst. I just wanted to share this experience, has anyone else faced such issues and what would you do in this situation?
