There was a leak in the hot water recirculate line. I noticed some black lines inside the tube. What causes the black lines and what are the potential risks / implications? Aside from replacing the section of the tube where the leak took place (accessible from standing level), should these sections with black markings also be replaced, or the whole tube altogether (it goes vertically from floor to ceiling)?
Also, when this line is being worked on, what measures can the plumber / I take to prevent the water from getting all over the place? Theres only about 20 cm width of opening to access the tube
