Hi! I (27F) have been in administrative and receptionist roles for a few years and I'm super burnt out.

I currently work for a private equity firm and have been doing corporate reception since 2023 at 2 different financial firms. I also assist 4 junior-level individuals. I have a bachelor's degree in English linguistics, and a lot of skills with people, calendar management, assisting, office administration, filing, documentation, travel management, etc.

The only clear path for growth at my company is to eventually become an Executive Assistant. But the longer I work in this industry, the more I do NOT want to become an EA. I mean this with all due respect and I love a lot of EAs that I've worked with, but I don't know any EAs that actually seem... happy. They always seem burnt out, cranky, and tired of chasing around executives who are unhelpful at best and mean at worst.

I want to pivot, but I have no idea what to pivot to. I have no real interest in finance, it's just where I ended up.

For the former receptionist or administrative professionals who left that field, what do you do now? Would you recommend it?

TIA!
