There was a weevil in my bed..so glad I didn’t crush him

This is my first time growing a king veitchii. I had him in soil (as shown in last image) but he was too waterlogged, and started showing this thin brown spot so I repotted into a chunkier and more airy husk/perlite/moss mix. Glad I did because some roots started to rot a bit.

The thin brown spot is still getting bigger though despite me repotting it. Am I too late? Or should I just ignore him and see what happens?
