Ciao a tutti! Sto preparando un piccolo progetto universitario di traduzione simultanea, e stiamo creando una scenetta tipo telegiornale con un errore di traduzione per aggiungere un po’ di comicità. Mi chiedevo se “bomba d’acqua” sia un termine davvero usato nelle previsioni meteo o nei notiziari italiani, così da rendere il contesto realistico e culturalmente corretto. Grazie!

I’m currently diving into the history of the Italian language for one of my university classes, and I’m working on this exercise about word origins.
The task is to figure out which of these words come from **Arabic (A)** and which come from **Germanic (G)** roots. Being a native Arabic speaker, some are super obvious to me (like *zucchero* or *algebra*!), but others are a bit of a puzzle. 🧩
I’d love it if anyone could help me double-check the list or share some cool etymology facts about them. For example, is *ghermire* definitely Germanic? And what about *altalena* or *facchino* (if they were here)?
