I have been shooting and scripting for stuff for probably 8 years, (also acting) but always as a hobby. Recently I had a realization that the middle-class lifestyle is dead anyways, and since i’m younger and have good support systems, I decided to just wing it and put a good few years into really trying to make films.
For these past 7 months i’ve just been keeping my head down trying to script and plan some small and some big projects, but is there any advice that would be helpful for me? Like the stuff you can only “experience”. Like should I just completely self produce my first films, or should I try and pitch them to certain producers? I’ve heard the worst people can say is no, but would it just be wasting time?
My plan is to build a portfolio so I can enter the industry when I am a big boy and actually need some sort of reliable income, but should I shoot for the stars instead? I have just been trapped in my own head thinking about this kind of stuff. Feel free to ask anything if you think it would better help.
