After my breakup, everyone expected me to do something dramatic.

Cut my hair.

Travel somewhere.

Start dating immediately.

Instead, I mostly just sat alone eating takeout on my kitchen floor.

One night I randomly came across this pink bag online.

Normally I would’ve called it “too much.”

Too soft.

Too feminine.

Too unrealistic for my actual life.

But for some reason, I kept going back to look at it every night.

At one point I realized:

it wasn’t really about the bag.

It was because everything in my life suddenly felt heavy.

And this was one small thing that didn’t.

So I got it.

The funny thing is, nobody even reacted the way I expected.

My friends didn’t think it was dramatic.

My coworkers barely noticed.

But every time I carried it,

I felt slightly more like myself again.

Not the version of me from before.

Just… a softer new version I hadn’t met yet.

Now when I see it sitting by the door, I don’t think about the breakup anymore.

I just think:

“I survived that year.”

Some dreams just take a little longer.

Years ago, I used to save photos of bags like this.

Not because I thought I’d ever own one.

I just liked what they represented.

A calmer life. More confidence. A version of myself that seemed a little more put together.

Seeing this piece now made me realize something.

The bag is beautiful, but what really moved me was the thought that maybe I’ve become the person I used to imagine.

Do you have something that reminds you how far you’ve come?

I went into this fully expecting to choose black.

Simple, classic, easy with everything. End of discussion.

Then I saw the brown tone in person and immediately understood why people love it so much. It somehow makes casual outfits feel warmer and more relaxed.

But the grey surprised me the most.

It’s quieter than the other two, but the longer I looked at it, the more elegant it felt.

Now I honestly can’t decide which one feels the most timeless long term.

Black feels classic.

Brown feels effortless.

Grey feels understated in the best way.

A friend told me:

“Your favorite bag color usually says a lot about your personality.”

Which honestly made this decision way harder than it needed to be 😂

So now I’m curious —

which color do people actually keep reaching for years later?
