I am a nihilist, but today I read a letter on reddit and felt extremely disheartened and sad. My heart sank knowing what some students are going through. I don’t know what I’m writing and why I’m even writing this, but I just hope students and parents realise no single event or group of events can determine a person’s future. You’re supposed to be a support system for your near and dear ones, not the reason for their unhappiness. JEE or NEET or whatever exam you’re trying to give at the tender age of 17-18 matters so little in the grand scheme of things. Please do, and let others do what they genuinely want to do. Let them make their decisions, fail, get up, learn, and just live life on their own terms. As a parent you’re supposed to support, not control.

Please don’t be afraid to reach out guys. DMs will always remain open.

To the student who wrote that letter, if you’re reading this just know that you’re not alone. Whatever legal, financial, and emotional support you need, I and a lot of us at reddit are willing to help you. Please reach out to me if you can.

25M here looking to make new long term friends here. I don’t mind time zones. I’m mostly into casual gaming on my PS5, gymming and playing snooker/pool.

Apart from that, I generally enjoy anything nerdy, and super into true crime documentaries/podcasts lately. Have always been super into podcasts and audiobooks. I occasionally read books, and enjoy watching movies and TV shows a lot too.
