On tcga and in person, everytime they just play the card that I casted abandon on a second time in the chain. For example I play void assault. They play defy. I play abandon. They play the same defy again bcuz they have runes up.

shouldn't this not be possible since the spells resolve backwards? The defy gets returned to hand after abandon goes through, then void assault goes off.

One is significantly stronger than the other. So I'd like to know which one is correct.
