I am a recently retired electrician, I owned a reasonably sized Electrical and air conditioning business for 20 years.
I just found out from my son who was doing some renovations that some residential plumbers and other trades are now requesting payment for quotes. It took me a bit by surprise as my company never charged for quotations, arguably these were quotes for larger building companies and getting their business can be quite cut throat.
Generally, I feel it’s fair to get paid quotations as there are a lot of people who do this price check. I do feel however if the quote is accepted, but the quotation amount should be deducted from their overall price.
What are other trades out on this?
