Hi all,
Just after some facts as I the current vet was being very vague on our chances (understand they don’t want to build hope).
We are currently fostering a 4 week old kitten. We noticed she was very lethargic, green gunky eyes, threw up once, poo is kinda sloppy but not complete water (went on bed once), appetite not huge, but eating and drinking water.
When we took her to the vet, they advised she had lost 80 grams from 480 -> 400. They did a test (looked like the rapid covid one) and advised she had panleukopenia and would need to be put down there (noted she had been given the vaccine maybe 5 days ago).
We said our goodbyes, then 2 hours last received a call from the vet saying they had kept her alive as they believe she seemed to be doing ok + they did a second test (couldn’t understand if it was a different type) and that had returned negative.
They would only keep her alive if we took her home to look after, because they couldn’t risk her infecting all the other cats in the shelter if she had it.
Additional tests have been sent to a lab, pretty much I am just trying to get some sense on whether she’ll survive or not, or how likely it is that she will based on tests.
She is definitely sick with something,
Thanks
