The concept:

I want to launch a clothing brand called "Dasht" (دشت — Urdu for "wilderness") that prints classical Urdu poetry in hand-calligraphed Nastaliq script on 240 GSM oversized heavyweight tees. Think the cultural identity of a poetry book combined with the streetwear aesthetic of a premium fashion brand.

Target audience: Gen Z Pakistanis (18–28) in major cities who grew up listening to Coke Studio, follow Urdu poetry pages on Instagram, and currently buy from brands like Outfitters or Rastah — but find them too generic and Western.

The gap I see:

Every major Pakistani clothing brand (Outfitters, Breakout, Bonanza, Khaadi) either ignores Urdu script entirely or targets older demographics. There's an Indian brand called Urdugraphy doing exactly this concept and they're growing fast — but nobody has claimed this space in Pakistan. Zero direct competitors for "premium Urdu poetry streetwear" here.

The business model:

- Start with 50 pieces, 5 designs, Instagram-first (DM orders + JazzCash/Easypaisa)

- 240 GSM cotton terry, DTF printing for fine Nastaliq detail

- Sell at Rs 1,599–1,899 (~$5.70–$6.80 USD)

- Cost per piece ~Rs 900–1,100 including calligraphy design amortized

- Margin: ~45–55% per shirt

- No website initially — validate on Instagram first, website in month 4–6

- Named drops tied to specific poets: "Dasht-e-Tanhai" (Faiz), "Dasht-e-Imkaan" (Iqbal)

What I'm genuinely worried about:

  1. Is the market size real? Pakistan's Gen Z fashion market feels large but hard to quantify

  2. DTF printing quality for fine Urdu script — can it handle Nastaliq at t-shirt scale?

  3. COD fraud — Pakistan has notoriously high cash-on-delivery cancellation rates (15–25%)

  4. Copycats — once I validate, can any manufacturer clone this in 2 weeks?

  5. Am I underpricing? Rs 1,599 feels safe but maybe I'm leaving money on the table

Starting capital: ~Rs 65,000–70,000 (~$230 USD) for first batch including design, production, packaging, and first month of Instagram ads.
