Hello, so I'm looking for recommendations for a book that is preferably set in the mid-20th century. I want it to have a melancholic/sad feel to it.

My main thing is that I want it to be about a woman who one day just left her family and/or husband without any warning signs (according to those who she left). I want it to be centered on the people who have to start a new life without her. I would prefer it if it weren't about the woman dying or being kidnapped —just voluntarily leaving.
