At 8am I purchased rail tickets Off Peak day return but with a reserved seat on a 5pm on the LNER website for travel in England. 29 mins later I had to cancel due to the person travelling with me becoming ill.
The tickets were QR codes and had not been used, I went on the website and it gave the me the option to request a refund.
I have since been told I am unable to receive a refund due to the changes as refunds are up to 23.59 day before travel but their website states the following.
Changed your mind about booking
If it is within 2 hours, just head to My account to select the ticket you wish to refund.
If it's after 2 hours, Advance tickets cannot be refunded, but can be changed for a £10 admin fee plus the difference in price.
There is a section about purchasing before 1st April 2026
It then states this about after 1st April 2026
Unused Off-Peak or Anytime Single tickets can be refunded up to 23.59 before the date of travel. An admin charge may also be made, which will not exceed £5 per ticket. Head to My Account to claim your refund. Off-Peak or Anytime tickets purchased on the day of travel can't be refunded.
I have taken this as unused tickets are refundable within the first 2 hours of purchase and then it only become unrefundable once those 2 hours have passed and is a off peak or Anytime Single.
