Starting off strong with The Kid at The Back, imo Sol is def one of those iconic yanderes in the visual novel universe. Peak bg music, nice visuals and lovely character designs. I need so badly to play the nsfw version because a good amount of yandere scenes are “unlocked” in it, it’s just behind a paywall (I think it’s $5?). The sfw version is free though and it’s still so so good and yummy. Customizable player character w/ two love interests (only one is yandere, though)!!

Next, we have Something’s Wrong With Sunny Day Jack! You have no idea how obsessed I was with him when I first played it. The studio that created it is currently remaking/revamping the game, but the original demo of it is still available to play on itch. They used to have a more updated version but they took it down when they announced they were going to make a full release of the new and improved game. If you’re into manipulative yanderes, this one is def for you. Free with customizable player character and with voiceovers!!

Mushroom Oasis!! Ahhh I love Mychael, he’s adorable. This game gives very much “cottagecore” vibes and the visuals are so pretty. If you’re into a softer but also more desperate yandere, you might like this one. Free with customizable player character!!

Lastly, we have Dead Plate. Unlike the other games mentioned, this one doesn’t have a customizable player character, instead you play as Rody — a broke guy in his 20s who’s a new hire at a restaurant in 1960s France, working to save up money to buy his gf a present. This is the one that might be a little controversial, in the way that some people may not view the two MCs’ relationship as anything more than employee and boss, but I definitely view it as an obsession with Rody (ginger) on Vincent’s (black hair) part. I won’t spoil anything though (unless you want me to), so you’ll have to use your own judgement (as well as just simply pay attention to what the story reveals) to see why and how Vincent may be obsessive over Rody while playing the game. To be clear, this isn’t something I desperately pulled out of my mind, a good amount of the fanbase sees eye-to-eye on this. To give a bit more context though, the creators revealed on their Tumblr that Rody is bisexual (but also biphobic because, yk, the 60s) and that Vincent is gay. Anyways though, this, overall, is one of my favorite games I’ve ever played. Storyline and gameplay is fucking amazing. Free!
