Hi all, I'm 70 (F) and have been on meds for high blood pressure since about 2020. I needed to treat my bp because I had a retinal vein occlusion (eye stroke) that has since cleared up with treatment. I've been seen by three different pcps due to switching clinics, retirement. My recent doctor doubled my dose of losartan to 100 MG a few weeks ago and HCTZ to 25 MG yesterday. She said we were in a "tricky area" because I had bad reactions to lisinopril (horrible headaches, weaknesses, felt ill) and amlodipine (ankle swelling, leg rash). This made me think I was at the end of my options. But reading here, there seem to be more meds. and more things I could try. She also didn't really inform me why my diastolic seems normal when it's my systolic that's high.

Readings from three days last week (taken at home, correctly): 162/79, 141/66, 144/64. (That was after I doubled my Losartan, but not the HCTZ.) Heart rate is 60-70 range. Most major lifestyle modifications are taken care of, but I'm trying to drink more water. I might need to address anxiety...

My first thought after yesterday was to look for a new doctor - this one is young and not an MD, and I've only had her as PCP for a few months. What do you think?
