Learning the bugle for short calls.

Hello everyone! So I am about to take up the bugle, but not necessarily proper music. I am a reenactor and portray a member of a light company during the war of 1812, who used bugles as a means of battlefield communication. I’ve decided I’d like to learn this instrument, and have a couple general questions. How difficult is this instrument? Bearing in mind I have no experience with them or any instrument for that matter, as well as how long can I expect it to take to be competent, assuming I practise routinely?

In the pictures above show the highlighted calls I need to learn, as well as the sheets of the calls themselves. Thank you!

Hello hello! I am Tater, coming at you with one (hopefully to be) gut wrenching and whimsical plot! So first things first, obviously I would prefer to play a dude against a fella! I don’t care too much about the specifics past that so long as they’re identifying as a dude! And second, also obvious, but hey! Redundancy! This will be set during the later 1700s, preferably in North America, but we can go east to Europe.

So! I’ve got this worm in my brain obsessing over two poor lovers, or just pals, being split up and finding each other years later, drastically changed! It gets in all the good fluff and angst that’s needed to keep the mind healthy! Probably..

Without much further ado, we’ll dive into my main idea, though you’re always welcome to come in with suggestions!

Our characters are both nobles or one is and the other not perhaps? Meant to be wed to a wealthy lady or fellow, a legacy and honour to hold up, yet they much prefer one another’s company, far more than any lady they’re meant to court. Their feelings should be shunned, but they dive into them, to each other’s ruin. One night they’re discovered, and my critter finds himself disowned and discarded by his family, sent away with hardly a thought given to how he might survive. Whatever happens to your goober? I would much prefer for my partner to decide that. My critter, like so many desperate men of the time, finds himself in the wretched wars, fighting and trying to find his purpose. Eventually, after years and years it all, perhaps on parade through a city, he sees a pair of eyes that were once so comforting, and feelings previously suppressed come back in force!

Of course just a baseline! We can do all sorts of things I don’t mind!

As to me and my expectations! I am Tater, or Lichen. I am happy with either :) I love to talk OOC and make friends and just absolutely gush over things. I’ve been writing for about 7 years now and I’d consider myself pretty literate. (I’m happy to provide a sample!) I am an absolute nerd, and very keen to ranting about things. Uhh, I’m in EST and pretty active! At least for now, once spring and summer open up I’ll be extremely busy but I’ll always let you know!

As for you! I do ask you be literate, I don’t ask for super long replies, but I do love details! I would like my partner to have some knowledge of the period but honestly I don’t mind! If I get to info dump I’ll be very happy! Obviously being chill and nice is awesome!

Oh hey you read this far! Tell me about yourself! And what’s your favourite uhh, kind of cheese?
