reddit.comMy child is in JK and for the past year ever since he started school the teachers have told me about another student who hits him and hits other teachers and students as well. I have complained to the principal and he has arranged for some assistant in the classroom for the child. I have personally seen the child hitting teachers, not listening to any assistants, and have heard from other parents that the child has hit their child as well. I believe they have all complained about their respective childs experience to the office as well. This continues to happen and I was recently told my child was punched in the face again. I want to know what I need to do apart from send another email to the principal again. Clearly positive measures are not working out. I have observed the parent at birthday parties and she does not seem very involved with parenting and has been on her phone talking to someone completely ignoring her children, forcing the birthday party guests and host to tell her children (she brought another sibling along) to stop misbehaving.
Please tell me what options I have, who to escalate this matter to and how to ensure processes are in place so that this child doesnt hit my child anymore. I also have concerns that he will be in my childs class again next year. My child has made some good friends and I dont want him to be put into another classroom but it seems like children with bad behaviour are not the ones moved around.
Edit: please respond if you are a parent or have personal knowledge of or have been in this situation before and were able to resolve it. The parents parenting style is important to mention, because this is a matter of a parent not parenting properly thats becoming an issue for others in the classroom. This child does not have any other condition. Also, i am asking reddit to reach out to people in the community who can help, clearly i have already done the basics and want to learn if there are other options that can be explored. Thats clearly what reddit is for.
