Dolly is your Girlfriend...

Who read Dolly? Who read Girlfriend magazine?

I loved my teenage magazines.

My school friends and I were ob-sessed with 'Dolly Doctor' and 'What's Should I do?' advice columns.

If we didn't have our own copy of the magazines, we would read our older sister's or have a cheeky peek in the newsagent before or after school.

I remember the man in the newsagent would say in a LOUD voice 'this is NOT a library, girls!'...

Many models were 'discovered' by these magazines - including Kate Fisher, Miranda Kerr and Alison Brahe.

And we'd scurry out the store...only coming back again before/after school! 😆😆😆❤️

Bless your souls, Dr Scholl!

I used to love clomping around in my Mum's Dr Scholl sandals...

until I got my own pair.

I thought they were so comfortable, but they certainly weren't very practical when you had to run for the bus!

clip clop **clunk**😆😆😳

I think from memory, Mum's were red❤️

After Dinner Mints, anyone? (hint, hint)

If my parents went to a 'fannncy' restaurant or had a dinner party with their friends, the After Dinner Mints (preferably Red Tulip band) would come out with a cup of coffee or liquor or port.

My older sister and I looked forward to having these as a treat...as we thought that these were 'soooo sophisticated'! 😆

In later years, my husband and I would laugh and call these 'After Dinner Hints' 😆😆😆

what a funny old fellow...😏

When I met Humphrey B Bear as a child, I remember kissing him on the nose and telling him that I was going to marry him one day.

I didn't end up marrying him, but Humphrey B Bear has a place in my heart ❤️

I was a big fan of Judy Blume books...

'Are You There God, it's me Margaret' reminds me of my school friends in primary school...we had our secret little 'club' where we would talk about the boys we had crushes on, who was wearing a bra...who had kissed a boy and who got their period 😳

My copy of 'Forever' was read by the entire Year 8...only to have it returned dog eared and well-read 2 years later - when I was in Year 10! It was also in our Dolly magazine, but of course, the best parts were in the book! ❤️

I still think that Judy Blume was the best pre-teen author who dealt with teenage issues. She felt like she was like one of your friends that gave you advice...if you were too embarrassed to ask an adult (your parents!) 😳😬

My Dad could never understand when I said that for homework, I had to do title pages on my school books!

Thanks to my Lettering Book, my school books and projects always had great 'titles'😏

I still have my Lettering Book, all years later...complete with my teenage doodles and scribbles and the names of the boys I had crushes on at the time 😆😳

Any fans of this Australian classic film...

starring a very young Heath Ledger and Rose Byrne and Aussie Legend, Bryan Brown

It's fast-paced, with an equally exciting soundtrack set in Kings Cross and the suburbs of Sydney.

There's drama, there's crime, there's romance, there's comedy!

Hold tight and enjoy the ride! 😆

Does anyone remember this great drama series which was on the ABC between 1989 and 1996?

Each Tuesday evening my family and I would watch the medical drama series set in inner city Sydney.

Storylines were quite controversial (a gay Doctor, incest, AIDS amongst other things).

The characters were really likeable (Denise Roberts as Julie the Receptionist and Brian Rooney as her son, Michael and Michael Craig as Dr William Sharp and guest cast included a young unknown Cate Blanchett and countless others ❤️
