Stray Dogs ran off my cats
I live out in the country where there’s a pretty large population of strays. I have two indoor cats and two outdoor cats. Before anyone comes for me, the outdoor cats were originally strays that showed up. I got them spayed and I’ve been feeding them for the past year so safe to say they’re mine, they just don’t get along inside. They’re at my house without fail every single day.
A couple days ago, these two black lab puppies (6mo) showed up on my porch. Definitely belonged to a momma dog I was feeding for a few months (she’s now gone, but my cats always stuck around when she showed up). Obviously these puppies are much more active/vocal and they just won’t leave my porch. They saw one of my cats and didn’t try to chase it at all, they wanted to play and got scratched and that was it, but I haven’t seen my cats in 4 days now, I have cameras outside as well and they haven’t been at all. Will they ever come back? They’ve been around dogs before but never disappeared like this.
I put their food up high with a separate way for them to get to it without nearing the dogs but still nothing. I’ve also been trying to find the pups a home (posting on Facebook groups, reaching out to shelters and rescues) but no one will take them. This is the kind of place you either ignore them or take them in yourself. Any advice?
