For fun I recently tried to design a high current relay that you could control with something like an Arduino. I have a ton of these already, but I wanted mine to have a switch to be more convenient then those fiddly little jumpers, and to be as reliable as possible hence the separate logic ground as I've been told that the inductive noise from the relay coil and pole interacting can damage microcontrollers.
