Zed would be unbeatable with Cursor-style "Tab" completion
Hi everyone,
I’ve been using Zed as my main editor for about 6 months now. I absolutely love the performance—it’s hands down the best tool for codebase exploration and understanding architecture because of how snappy and lightweight it feels.
However, I recently tried out Cursor’s AI Tab (predictive autocomplete) feature, and I have to admit, it’s a game changer for the actual "writing" part of coding.
Right now, my workflow is split:
- Zed: Used as a high-performance viewer for analyzing complex codebases and navigating structures.
- Cursor: Used for active development specifically because of that "Tab" autocomplete experience.
I can’t help but think: if Zed integrated a similar high-level predictive autocomplete (like Cursor’s Copilot++), I would never have a reason to open another editor again. The combination of Zed’s native speed and that level of AI assistance would be unstoppable.
What do you all think? Is this something the Zed team is looking into, or are there any extensions that bring a similar experience?
I’d love to hear your thoughts!
