I did a Gan 16 / Gan i carry 4 SSL piece swap
yoooo whats up reddit just sharing a small piece swap mod i did.
so, the gan i carry 4 SSL limited edition smart cube has these AWESOME semi-transparent glittery blue internals. i also found that the pieces of the i carry 4 are identical to that of the gan v100, which of course are almost identical to the gan 16 max (the only differences being that the magnets are placed differently in visible capsules, as well as the edges not having the edge repelling magnets). also, obviously, you can't piece swap the v100 pieces onto the 16, due to the size difference. i took the green corner magnets from the 16 box (the i carry corners dont have the core magnets), put them in the corners, then reassambled the cube. i didn't change the centerpieces because i didnt want to mess with the i carry's core, as well as the 16's adjustment system (my 16 has a screw, and i believe newer batches dont). this is totally fine though, as you never really notice the primary center pieces.
the resulting cube is pretty kickass. it feels like a cross between the 16 and the v100 in all the best ways for me. keeps the size of the 16 while keeping the awesome visible magnet theme from the 100. the turning feel is also closer to the 100, which i prefer over the 16.
