Hey folks, hoping some plumbers can point me in the right direction.

I’ve been dealing with really aggressive water hammer coming from my basement washing machine. The original arrestors in the wall are soldered in place and replacing them seems complicated . Because of that, I’ve been adding screw‑on arrestors directly to the back of the washing machine.

Problem is the new arrestors work for maybe a week or two, then the hammer comes back just as bad as before. At that point I end up buying another pair, and the cycle repeats.

Is there something I’m missing here? Are the screw‑on arrestors just not effective for this kind of issue, or is there a bigger underlying problem I should be addressing? Any advice would be hugely appreciated.
