Looking for a specific artist from 20th century with specific style
I am trying to find a specific artist whose art I saw a few times, but can't remember the name of.
It was a 20 century artist, he drew people from the 20s or maybe 50s.
His style is very ICONIC, he uses texturless BLACK color as both the background and in some parts of the foreground, making them blend in.
One art I remember has a gentleman in a suit with a lady stand on stairs. The stairs, lady and man are painted, but the mans suit is pure black like the background, making their boundries indistinguishible.
In another there is just a man in a suit, which is once again black like the background, only his white shirt, face and hands are coloured in.
PS: I like this style a lot so it would be cool if I could be pointed to other artists that use this technique as well.
