We’re renovating a 1970s brick colonial and our GC sent over this proposed front portico design. I’m struggling with whether the width/proportions feel right relative to the scale of the house.

The house is fairly wide and symmetrical, and I can’t tell if the portico looks appropriately sized/classic, or if it feels undersized and a little “pinched” compared to the façade.

A few things I’m considering:

Should it extend wider toward the windows?

Are the columns too close together?

Does the roof pitch/projection look balanced?

Would a wider portico improve curb appeal, or start to look too heavy?

Would appreciate honest opinions from anyone with design/build experience. Trying to get the proportions right before we finalize everything.
