For expats in the EU: how did you make the move happen?
Hey everyone,
I’m based in New York and work in digital marketing/PPC. Recently I’ve been thinking more seriously about the possibility of eventually relocating somewhere in the EU(Austria or Germany to be more specific).
I’m not looking for an instant move or some fantasy escape plan — more trying to understand realistic pathways and hear from people who actually made it happen.
I’ve started taking small steps:
\- networking a bit
\- browsing LinkedIn jobs
\- researching visas/work permits
\- trying to better understand the EU job market and lifestyle differences
For those who successfully moved to the EU:
\- what field were you in?
\- how did you land your opportunity?
\- what helped you stand out as a foreign applicant?
\- are some countries more realistic than others for non-EU citizens?
\- what do people underestimate about relocating to Europe?
\- how is the application process and hiring culture in general is different from the US?
