In cognitive science the concept of "far transfer" doesn't exist , basically meaning that if you are good at one cognitive task then that doesn't transfer over to other unrelated cognitive tasks very often.
So let's say if someone scores 110 points on a general iq test , this implies that your problem solving ability would be better than 75% of the population
Now my issue is that this basically implies that this is your general problem solving ability , doesn't this mean that the tasks that you solved during that iq test have a far transfer to all domains of life?
If not then how is it your general problem solving skills ?
Also this would mean that if you get very good at solving these tasks through training and practice then you'd get good at everything , which is not what we see in real life
