Thoughts on Jonah Sivertson - Cootes Line Mate on Prince Albert Raiders?

https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/883678/jonah-sivertson/scouting-report

Can't find much for highlights for him.

He's only 17, was WHL rookie of the week, and is 6'3", 195lbs.

Just under a PPG in regular season and playoffs so far.

Plays tonight with Cootes. Canadian player. From Sask. They're good people.

Looking for more info on him, can't find a whole lot. Found this video of highlights though from his WHL rookie of the week reel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgXH-kwdXPs

He seems to have some good chemistry with Cootes too.

PRO TIP: Coote's playoff game is free to watch tonight at Victory+ app pretty sure

Ryan Johnson or Evan Gold for GM?

Ownership has a massive say in this hire (confirmed by Dhaliwal). He's leaning to get Evan Gold as GM, he has the law degree background, that makes sense to him (I swear he roams around this sub lmao).

Ryan Johnson is out there on skates. He's part of our last bits of a person instilling a stronger culture that the Canucks have. He made the culture in Abbotsford, and it's so strong that you can see it coming up into the big club with players like Sasson, Karlsson, Tolopilo, the list goes on. Ryan Johnson, a Vancouver Canuck of 2008-2010 - some of our golden years.

When comparing to Evan Gold and his role, honestly the (public known) experience between him and Johnson is more or less the same with having a strong AHL team - maybe some analytics changing that here and there. Analytics can be fixed or modernized by an analytics firm, proper contractors, etc. It doesn't have to be the GM that instills it, they just have to be smart enough to make use of it according to how an analytics department presents the data and it's use cases.

It'd be more ideal to have a guy like Evan Gold in the front office WITH Ryan Johnson - someone to handle the contract stuff so Johnson can just focus on hockey. Not sure how that all works out together. Maybe Kevyn Adams takes a POHO role (he made a great collaborative environment in Buffalo during their main rebuilding years)

Ryan Johnson has earned it and it would be a big blow to this franchise if we ever lose him.

Ok arm chair experts, who's the BPA at 3OA?

I keep flip flopping back and forth between all three of these guys.

I think the thing that really sets in the decision for me, is Verhoeff had some really good chemistry with Cootes on Team Canada, he's 17 and the fact that he's making plays and getting points like he was at the beginning of the NCAA is a bit more assuring to me than Reid in the OHL.

Reid though seems so much quicker out there, and fast to make slick plays - I wonder how he is boxing out and playing in front of his net? Does he throw down for his team mates when push comes to shove? He'll be playing for team USA.

Verhoeff is a seeing eye point guy, makes wicked plays and his accuracy in his shot is pretty unreal and kind of deceiving for where he plans to shoot it. Plays mostly at the point, wonder if he has the motor though to play at the NHL level.

Malholtra has had an absolutely unreal playoffs. If he had this level of production all year, he would probably be a no brainer for 3OA. It's hard to gauge players off seasonal/playoff point production in leagues like the OHL though.

16 years with the Hurricaines. Knows analytics. Knows what it's like to work with a GM who has a Harvard degree in data science, a GM that actually runs a decent organization.

Darren Yorke is praised for his drafting skills from Tulsky, that all drafting goes through him, etc. He also has a relationship with JR, they know each other well.

I like how he holds himself in interviews, explains himself, and how he thinks. It just makes so much sense, and straight to the point. It's exactly what we need. The way he sees drafting or player trading, seems like he understands a clear and solid SOP for getting solid data and information, and how to use it.

He already has been interviewed for GM positions by other teams this year, and was a candidate too before Tulsky was chosen for GM.

I always figured that Allvin's interviews were so bland and shallow, I haven't found anything like that from Yorke.

Here's his AMA on reddit 5 years ago (only 30 comments, can you believe that?): https://www.reddit.com/r/canes/comments/kd6f3i/i_am_darren_yorke_director_of_player_personnel/

Mentioned on Halford and Brough this morning, the pact that no matter how tough it got with the on ice product, they wouldn't ever drag down the fans or let any of that effect the culture in a negative way. Saying that Cheech was like your best friend reaching out through the T.V.

This taught me a lot. Just so much passion, and just so full of life, and enjoying it in the moment, and making the most of it - never taking it too seriously.

It's really so beautiful how this can come so naturally to some people like Cheech, and Shorty.

Such bright spots of the Canucks, evoking feelings of watching the Canucks and core memories that I hold dearly, like so many of us do.

I can't put it into words.

Cheers Cheech. Amazing legacy, absolutely amazing.
