Hi! So with the cast announcement of all stars 11, a lot of criticism has come out about queens coming back for the 3rd or 4th time, and I just want to know why?
I know some arguments are, they take away space for other queens who haven’t come back yet, and that we simply have seen all there is to see from them. And I fully understand!
However, I don’t know if this applies this season. The queens who came back for the 3rd time this season (A’Keria and Morgan.) both had a season where they couldn’t show off the legends they were. Morgan because she was first out, and A’Keria because production didn’t treat her correctly and rigged her run on the show.
For the queens who are back for their 4th time on the show (kennedy and silky), I also don’t know if this applies. Kennedy is a legend in the drag community and has shown that she can stay true to herself but still adapt the new generation of drag. That, mixed with the fact that I truly believe we haven’t seen everything from Kennedy yet even after 3 seasons of making it to the finale shows that she is somebody that can come back and still give us more and something new instead of the same thing.
Silky too, Silky’s evolution throughout her three seasons is actually cinematic in a way. Season 11 was rigged in her favour that combined with the fact that she was not very likeable made her public enemy number one. Instead of turning her back on the crowd, she came back and it was clear she listened to the critiques and was focused on not being “too much”. Because of that she faded in the background and ultimately didn’t perform well on that season. Her third season on cvstw showed her finally in balance with her personality and performance and it showed us again a new and undiscovered side of Silky. So why not bring her back when she is a queen that hears the critiques and comes back every time with a new side of her?
Is this just a reaction we have because of the wasted potential that was last years cast? Or is this genuinely a disinterest in these queens? Or is it fear that other queens won’t get a fair shot?
I always questioned this since other reality competition shows bring back contestants time and time again, even on non-all stars seasons.
Anyway that was my take I would love to hear why you have/ think the fandom has such a reaction towards this?
