I know everyone’s 4 year old is emotional. But today I realized that mine might be a bit more emotional than average.
There was a mother’s day breakfast at school (preschool). I attended the breakfast with my 4.5 year old daughter, along with about 14 other moms.
Slowly, all of the moms headed out. I warned my daughter that I would be leaving soon as well. She was glassy eyed, but ok.
At 9am, an activity was starting so the remaining moms shuffled off. The kids were sad, but no one was crying. My daughter was hysterical. She could hardly catch her breath. It‘s really hard to manage and I realized that maybe there is a way for me to help her through this.
There are more stories I could tell, but this is a good example, just know it’s not that she’s not just having a tough day, this is something that we could expect any day of the week.
Help! How do I gently help her to be brave in these moments?
