Is my cat's hip position normal?

The second photo is from about a year ago, my kitty is on a diet and is losing some weight so this could be the cause but I just wanted the be sure. He is 15 years old and goes to the vet semi regularly, he's relatively healthy for his age and weight but I've been keeping an eye out for any changes
