I am now sanitizing my hands. I took a shower last night... after I took a piss and shit.

I just felt I needed to say that. To you and yours!!!

How important is a CTO to your startup? I'm building a solution that involves CTOs, and would like to know... can you do without one?

This question is especially targeted to non-technical founders. I know CTOs are important, but I also wonder if you can bypass a CTO's expertise/input and just hire devs directly.

Also, did you ever try things without a CTO and paid a huge price, be it in terms of poor technical decisions or just bad direction overall?

If you're a CTO, I would really appreciate your input also.
