Career help? USA
Hi! I’m not sure is anyone will be able to help me but I figured I will try. So I am feeling very uninspired in my career. I went to school for psychology not really knowing what I wanted to do. I went to school originally for elementary education but decided it probably won’t make enough money long term and it’s so repetitive so I switched to psychology. I then got my masters in industrial organizational psychology hoping I would have it figured out by the time I graduated. Spoiler alert … not really. So I applied to tons of jobs and the job market ofc was terrible. I landed a job in Human Resources. I am now working as a generalist. I love my company and my coworkers but I really do not enjoy HR. I don’t like any of the work I do whether it be onboarding, recruiting, benefits, workers comp, HRIS cleanup, terminations, employee relations. I thought I might like training / learning development or leadership coaching but I have not really gotten my foot in the door so I’m not sure. Maybe HR isn’t for me.. which is fine! I’m okay with a career switch but nothing sounds like anything interesting to me and the only work experience I have is about 2 years of HR work. I love working with kids but don’t know if I have the patience to do it full time. I like working with people. I sometimes think marketing but I have 0 experience / knowledge about marketing. I wish I had a dream career or even a slight idea of what kind of job to do. I want to have a job that I at least enjoy the field. Pls help even though there isn’t much help to give 😭
