The parking meter expires in four hours. A few posts in this subreddit suggest 3 to 4 hours to complete the 3.8.11 install.  Could I get an amen on that, please?

Most posters seem to have the good fortune of doing the installation overnight while their cars are parked in their home parking spaces. Not me. I live in a 14-story condo building and park beneath it in an underground garage— so no cellular service. Hence, street parking for the installation.

I'm already paying for the update installation through the parking meter fee.  I hate to pay a premium through a parking ticket.  (Our meter enforcement is ruthlessly efficient.)

VW ID.4. 2022 Pro S with Gradient Package. RWD. USA. 3.5.11. 35k+ miles.

EDIT: Just saw the post, "3.8.11 Over-the-Air Update Failed". Fingers crossed I have enough cellular service since I'm parked in a high rise canyon. [I did. Full bars.]

EDIT: It’s DONE. And no late fees!

Proximity unlocked worked as I approached the car. (Hi Dad!)

  1. Got in and energized. Checked the software version. Screen registered 3.8.11. Not 3.8 but 3.8.11. Showing the localization version, the .11, is new.

  2. Prompted to install another update. Few seconds and done.

  3. Message window says to restart the car so I exited and locked.

  4. What’s different? Beats me. CarPlay is fast but that’s likely due to the hard reboot. Let’s see if this performance persists.
