Question about Passion Fruit Syrup.

I’ve used two passion fruit syrups. Liber and Co. and homemade via the MakeDrink YouTube videos

https://youtu.be/M-xIzvMycSg?si=OkoanEsMHgpGvl9-

My question is … anytime I use these syrups they completely dominate the cocktail. It’s delicious… yet sooo so much passion fruit syrup forward. So much so that when a drink calls for 1 ounce of passion fruit syrup I use 3/4 ounce and still think it’s very sweet and passion fruit forward.

Cocktails I often make with the syrups:

Trader Vic Grog via the total tiki app.

Mai Kai version of the Demerara dry float

Hurricanes

Most recently I made a 1950’s Don the Beach zombie. This is the drink that really makes me question what I’m using. How did Don go from the 1934 Zombie to this? They are absolutely different and sooo so much passion fruit syrup in the 1950’s version.

Is the 1934 version wrong? Did tastes change this much from 1934-1950? Or is our modern idea of passion fruit syrup way more potent?

All of the cocktails containing passion fruit syrup taste very much the same.
