Mario Vargas Llosa books
Dear all,
Since last year I've been reading the Latin American Boom, and of the many books I've read, my favorite was *The City and the Dogs* by Mario Vargas Llosa. Because of this, months later I read *Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter* and had the same experience: I was absolutely captivated by the story and, even more so, by the Peruvian writer himself. This is why at the beginning of last month I decided to start reading *The Green House*, and while I wouldn't say it's a boring book, I would say it's much more complex to understand. At times I get lost; I don't quite understand the dialogues and idioms (since I'm not Peruvian).
I wanted to ask if this has happened to any of you? Is it just me, or is it really more complex than the others? What do you recommend?
My next book by him was going to be *Conversation in the Cathedral*, but it seems I'll have to postpone it. Unless you can tell me that it's less difficult to understand.
I look forward to your replies
