First Manual Car Questions

Hey y’all! Just wanted had a few questions. Bought a brand new 2026 Civic Si and I’ve been driving it for almost a month and wanted some feedback on a few things:

- There were a few times when I shifted to 5th or 6th gear going into the highway and the RPMs rose up a bit. What would cause this and how can I improve?

- I’ll downshift from 3rd to 2nd when wanting to take a turn or going into a neighborhood and the RPMs will shoot up a bit when I do, is this normal or what can I do to improve?

- When I approach a red light, I’ll slow down to around 1000-1500rpms and shift to neutral. Is this good practice?

- What’s the best way to take off into fist gear when stopped at a traffic light on an incline?

Again, still on the manual driver journey and just want to make sure I’m not killing my clutch 😅
