Being in a relationship with a secular partner.

Hello dearest Orthodox brothers and sisters,

For a little context, I was born into a Greek Orthodox family, but over the past few years my faith has also become a very personal journey of my own.

My secular Catholic partner and I are currently taking some time apart. He recently shared that he does not see himself participating in our Church during Easter, and that he worries he may not be able to fully support me in my faith. Because of this, he has also expressed concerns about what our future together may look like. Ultimately, I know this relationship won’t work if he doesn’t open his heart to learn.

Don’t get me wrong, I have very much suffered with pain. But God never takes away something good without opening the way for something greater for our salvation.

Over the last few days, though, I’ve come across several posts from others experiencing similar struggles. In a strange way, it has brought me a lot of comfort. It reminds me that while each of our situations is unique, we are never truly alone in what we carry.

God truly works in mysterious ways, and I am grateful for the kindness and honesty people share here.
