Uexküll defines the living organism as a subject that relates perception and action, forming a world-of-one’s-own (Umwelt). In his framework, this is tied to biological life.
However, fictional representations like Westworld portray artificial beings that, at some point, appear to organize their own perception and action in a non-deterministic way.
Within Uexküll’s framework, is it possible to interpret such systems as subjects of an Umwelt, or does his concept strictly require biological life?
