Asked for white oak floor, contractor accidentally put down red oak and claims that he can bleach them to make it look like white oak. I am skeptical. Can you tell the difference?
I should note that we will be installing walnut cabinets and am concerned that the pinkish quality in the red oak will not go well. I am also concerned that the bleaching product will damage the structure of the floor somewhat and could cause it to become brittle and possibly splintery in the future. Am I over reacting?
