Sorry, I know it's been done to death and also this is not strictly foraging but I am quite confused.

I visited highgate cemetery yesterday and it is absolutely awash with wild garlic and 3 cornered leek as well as the tail end of the bluebells and some lilac.

The thing that threw me was the complete lack of scent, I couldn't smell any of the plants at all. I rubbed some of the leaves/flowers and got nothing. I also checked some I have growing in the garden when I got home and can confirm that my nose is working just fine.

Does anybody know if there is a reason why I may not have been able to smell the garlic in Highgate? Could it be pollution? The road smells were bad in the town but not in the cemetery.
