I work remotely in the Midwest and travel a few times a year for family. I usually download a handful of movies or episodes to my iPad before a trip so I have something to watch on flights or in hotel rooms without burning mobile data.

I have read that downloaded titles can sometimes become unavailable if the app checks your location and the license is different in the country you are visiting. Practically speaking, if I download everything at home and then travel abroad, is it best to keep the device in airplane mode the whole time I am watching Disney+? For example, if I briefly connect to hotel Wi-Fi to send a work message with Disney+ closed, then switch back to airplane mode before opening Disney+, could that still trigger Disney+ to update and block my downloads?

I'm not looking for ways to get around anything, I just want to avoid showing up with nothing to watch after meetings. If anyone has a simple routine that works (when to open the app, when to refresh downloads, whether to avoid Wi-Fi entirely), I would appreciate the tips.
