Hi everyone,

I'm 23F, moving to Kochi in September. I work fully remote so I can stay anywhere in or around the city. I've been searching online for weeks and honestly nothing on 99acres or MagicBricks looks decent, and NoBroker doesn't even cover Kochi properly. I don't use Instagram so I'm missing out on all those rental reels everyone keeps mentioning.

Hoping locals can help me out a bit.

What I'm looking for:

1 BHK or 2 BHK (heard 1BHK is rare in Kochi gated communities, so 2BHK is fine if it fits budget)
Budget max ₹20K, can't stretch beyond that
Gated community or proper security, since I'll be living alone
24/7 power backup (Preferred)
Somewhere safe and not deserted at night, but also not too noisy/city-bustle
Outside Kochi center is totally fine — Aluva, Kalamassery, Kakkanad, Thrikkakara are on my list

A few things I'd really appreciate help with:

Any specific buildings or societies you'd recommend? Especially if you live there or know someone who does
Which areas should I avoid as a single woman?
Any Facebook groups or WhatsApp groups for Kochi rentals?
How are deposits usually — heard some landlords ask 6-10 months which sounds insane
Anyone moved to Kochi from outside? How did you manage without local contacts?

I plan to come for a few days in late August to view places in person. I don't know anyone in Kochi yet so even a single tip helps. Open to DMs if anyone has broker contacts.
